Marriage Counseling to Stop Your Divorce
For a lot of people it can be really difficult to admit that they need help enough to warrant looking for marriage counseling. As such, marriage counselors have these days become the last resource to reach for when a marriage is failing, called upon at a time when there is so much resentment built up between the couple that even with professional help their issues are hard to resolve.
The truth is that marriage guidance counselors are actually of much more use earlier on in the marriage and not as an ultimate attempt for reconciliation. There are many who could attend sessions with marriage counselors before their marriages get into serious problems but they don’t probably due to a sense of false pride.

Stop my divorce
Many couples will shy away from the idea of marriage counseling with a cringe, not wanting to be labeled as a failure and thinking that this is only for the desperate. Not being able to admit (or not wanting to see) that their marriage could be in danger only serves to worsen the effect. Admitting that a marriage has problems is tantamount to making that same marriage a success later. So many marriages end up in divorce that could have been saved and transformed with just a little marriage counseling.
The best way of using a marriage counselor to stop my divorce is to see them for regular maintenance sessions just as you would your car mechanic. After every few thousand miles you take your car in to get the oil changed and the whole car checked over… well a marriage is the same. The marriage guidance counselor will give you the chance to periodically vent your feelings and little internal nags in a safe and moderated environment. This can be of immense benefit to the marriage as it can nip any potential problems in the bud bringing them out and to the fore before they have chance to stew and mutate into larger monsters.
This is of course for those who are starting to experience problems and where both partners are willing to do something to save the marriage. There are of course other marriages that have gone a little further where divorce seems imminent and in cases the partners do not even talk to each other. In these cases, if both partners manage to get to the counseling sessions then the counselor can be of great help. They will see the partners separately at first and then there should be some joint sessions where the couple can interact whilst being moderated by the neutral marriage counselor.
When working with a marriage counselor both partners should be in agreement about the choice of counselor. If one of the couple feels that the counselor is always on the other person’s side then it is not going to work. The true professional counselor sees both sides with objectivity and will never judge either of the partners.
